Happy Birthday to Me - Now I'm 3!

At Karson's request, a blue motorcycle cake

2 cakes! Yes, he is spoiled. Grandma Sandy made this gigantic cupcake

Telling Grandpa all about the cars and trucks in his book

Karson loves the song "No More Monkey's Jumping on the Bed". This cool piece of wall decor will fit perfectly right above his bed. Thank you G & G Kolb.

Firetruck, one of the many gifts he received. Moon sand, play doh and accessories, aqua doodle, markers and activity books, boots, shoes, legos, dinosaurs and more. He will be well entertained in the months we have to spend indoors. Thank you all!

Is that really a bounce house?

Indeed it is! It's 6x6x6 and fits in our basement. Awesome idea for the upcoming winter G & G Wersal. Thanks Uncle Aaron and Brenna for balls to fill it up.

Uncle Aaron likes the talking dinosaurs just as much as KK.

Sparkly White Teeth

I bought this little step stool for Karson so he could brush his teeth by himself. Now I am wondering if it was a mistake as he doesn't want to stop....ever. We are working on learning to put our toothbrush away and leave the bathroom nicely without a tantrum like many previous times. He can now easily reach all places that were the last "safe" areas. Pretty sure I'll find him on the kitchen counter some day soon.

Manners

We have been working with Karson to try to use silveware and not to dump the food off the plates and out of the bowls onto the floor. So far - it's about 50% successful. When he can't get it out with the fork, spoon or his fingers...he just puts the bowl up to his face and licks it out.

12 Month Well Child Check Up

As we already knew, Karson is perfect! His doctor said he is right in the middle of the charts and way ahead of other kids at his age. He's going to be a genius! ;)-
Poor guy had 3 shots and a finger poke to check his lead and iron level. Rough day for him but he's back to himself today.

More Teeth

One of his first year molars finally popped through. Amen! Those are rough. I noticed yesterday one of the eye teeth on the bottom is working it's way up too. Now he has 8 teeth total. The way the drool just spills out of his mouth, there has to be many more working on coming through.

My First Birthday

Cousins Caleb, Meg & Sam visited for the day. It was Karson's first time meeting them, didn't take him long to warm up tho. We are looking forward to seeing them again for our Thanksgiving get together along with the rest of the family.

Karson & Aunt Melissa

Andrew & Jeremy brought 2 toy cars for Karson. One stays at our house, one at Grandma Kolb's - specific instructions by Andrew. Karson pushes them all over the place, climbs in and out by himself, piles rocks and dirt in the opening behind the seat.

I wanted to make him a cake instead of buying one. I mixed up the batter and poured it in the pan, that's about as close to baking as I get. Grandma Bonnie baked, frosted and deocrated the monkey cake. We used Hershey Kisses, M & M's and chocolate licorice for the face. Job well done!

First bite of cake, he made quite the face.

Karson received many nice gifts for his birthday. Clothes, toys, and much more. The cousins helped him open his presents.

Uncle Pat and Pete took the kids for tube rides behind the jet skit. At one point, Caleb was on the jet ski with Pete with Meg & Sam on the tub. Karson floated around and played in it.

The lake water was a little chilly after the cool temps and rain. Pete thought it would be a good time to tackle Caleb and dunk him in the water.

Anything Karson can steer or drive makes his day.

Aunt Jen & Grandma Pat watch cousins Andrew & Jeremy in the water

Grandpa Jim tells ones of his many stories to Uncle Patrick. ;)
Later on, he cooked up his famous shrimp boil for all of us. He brought back fresh shrimp from Texas for the special occasion.

Yummy!

Great Grandpa & Grandma Munger were visiting MN for Labor Day weekend and joined us for the birthday celebration.

First Black Eye

Karson has his very first big shiner. He's become a pro at walking, can stand up from anyplace without hanging onto anything. He's very strong and doesn't like to sit down much. So, two nights ago when I was trying to give him his bath he took a little spill in the tub. He was standing up on the bath mat, I was holding onto him with one arm and washing with the other. He quickly turned away from me and kaboom! It instantly turned black and blue and swelled up. He was crying, I was just about crying and yelling for dad to bring the ice pack. It has not bothered him since but it looks worse every day.

I can stand

This past week, we got up in the morning to get Karson from his crib and we found him standing up with a big smile on his face. As soon as we seen that, we knew the crib mattress needed to be lowered. He now thinks it's really funny. At nap time or at bedtime, he stands up, throws his pacifier on the floor and babbles to himself sometime for almost an hour before he goes to bed.

Alas....the first tooth surfaces!

In the last day or so Karson's first tooth came through. He's been a real trooper while awaiting it's arrival.
KK sported his very first stylish ball cap last week. He has a little head according to the growth charts so the hats were always too big. He is 7 months old today. He had his 6 month check up a few weeks ago. He's just a few ounces shy of 18lbs, 26 1/2 inches long. He loves his bath time.

Six Months Old...Already

We are enjoying watching him grow and change. Finally, we've settled into a schedule for naps and night time.
He loves daycare, the kids keep him entertained well. His daycare lady told me that he's the best baby she's ever taken care of. I knew he was going to be perfect. ;)
We started feeding him baby food last week. He didn't even wince, make a face or spit it back out. So far, he eats everything you put in his mouth and gets mad if you don't feed him fast enough. At this point, he eats more variety of foods than his father.
KK still has no teeth, he's been chewing on his fingers or anything he can get into his mouths for about 3 months.

He is learning to sit up so well on his own. We rotate him through his toys that are sitting up and propping him on the floor or bed. He grasps things well with his hands and everything he comes in contact with he seems to need to taste.
